Gatton Manor
Our client
Gatton Manor in Ockley recently hosted the long-established PGA Surrey Open Golf Championship, having been awarded the event for next three years. The Surrey Open is one of the oldest tournaments in the golfing calendar. It was first played in 1926 and, in 2009, was included in the PGA South Region Order of Merit. Patrick Kiely and his wife Belinda acquired Gatton Manor in 2005 and have invested time, effort and money into developing the venue as not only a great place to play golf, but a conference venue and hotel as well.
Objectives
The main sponsor of the PGA Surrey Open was Kronenbourg 1664. Patrick Kiely wanted more sponsors on board to generate additional revenue and help raise the profile of the event.
Solution
Gatton Manor worked closely with The Marketing Eye to secure additional sponsorship.
We helped to design a sponsorship package and lead negotiations with a number of potential sponsors across the Region.
We also provided support with pre and post event PR to raise the profile of the event via the local media and golfing press.
Results
The Marketing Eye secured Mercedes Benz World as a major sponsor of the tournament, offering MBW an opportunity to promote the brand with signage across the venue from the drive way to the holes. The company was also given access to the Professional players – offering them the opportunity to visit Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands. Mercedes Benz World was also able to display three cars, at a prime location near the putting green at the event.
Press coverage was achieved in a number of titles.
Around 130 players took part in the PGA Surrey Open over two days.
"Getting additional sponsors onboard was a great way of getting more people through the door and raising our profile within the corporate world."
Patrick Kiely
